*SUMMARY*
The Project Controller is a key member of the project team and works directly with the Project Manager to help define the project’s goals and objectives; create and maintain a project’s budget and schedule, analyze progress reported against the work schedules; and recommend actions to improve progress.
*PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES*
· Must have complete knowledge of all accounting functions and procedures.
· Must have knowledge of Construction Job Cost and General Ledger Software Accounting Systems of the Company.
Proficient in computer software systems for the preparation of reports, spreadsheets and other accounting analysis that may be required by management.
· Maintain all projects operating, payroll and money market accounts including deposits, disbursements, and balancing.
· Monitor daily cash balances in operating, payroll, and money market bank accounts to cover obligations and maximize interest earnings.
· Develop internal control policies, guidelines, and procedures for activities, such as budget administration, cash and credit management, and accounting.
· Develop and maintain relationships with banking, insurance, and external accounting personnel to facilitate financial activities.
· Prepare monthly cash projection reports.
· On a quarterly basis complete federal and state payroll tax returns and necessary deposits to bank.
· Process and review all accounts payable and subcontractor’s payments.
· Ensure accuracy and completeness of master data including resource information; project, activity, and resource codes; enterprise project structure; security profiles; licensing information; etc.
· Participates in the development of the work breakdown structure, interfacing with Procurement, Engineering, and Finance Departments.
· Monitor and evaluate the performance of accounting and other financial staff, recommending and implementing personnel actions, such as promotions and dismissals.
· Prepares monthly aged trial balances, job cost summary schedules, supporting schedules for month-end close.
· Performs year- end audit and 6-month review with company CPA firm.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
*REQUIREMENTS*
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related degree required.
· Eight (8) to ten (10) years of progressive finance and accounting experience.
· Construction, Accounting, Payroll, experience is necessary.
· CPA preferred.
· Broad knowledge of GAAP and related internal control structures for financial accounting and reporting systems and processes.
