Pay This position is an exempt position at pay grade 219 Attendance Non-rotating 40-hour work week, Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm; must be available to work additional hours as needed.
Who May Apply? All persons legally authorized to work in the United States Overview Under the Intergovernmental Relations Director's general supervision, the Community Engagement Manager will lead in developing, implementing, and overseeing essential elements of communication and outreach programs to cultivate community engagement and build public collaboration on city related public policies.
Responsibilities · This position will develop a comprehensive framework for strategic community engagement regarding public policy on behalf of the city to community, business, and civic stakeholders.
· In coordination with the City Manager's office and IGR Director, identify organizations that should be engaged on emerging or pending city policy issues.
· Work with the city departments to develop resources to disseminate relevant information to impacted stakeholders and solicit feedback.
· Communicates, engages, and interfaces with citizens, regulatory agencies, city management, other city departments, consultants, contractors, and vendors to resolve problems, coordinate activities and provide information on municipal public policy; manages the Department's communication through website, monitors for suggestions from the community, gathers the news for information pertinent to the Department and community activity.
· Represent the city while regularly hosting or attending meetings or gatherings.
· In coordination with the IGR Director, initiate organizing informational meetings to disseminate educational information and solicit feedback.
· Coordinate with other department personnel for their involvement.
· Prepares presentations, oversees projects and research, conducts public meetings, supervises data compilation, evaluates results, and composes executive summaries as requested; develops briefing materials, presentations, brochures, and newsletters; interfaces with PIO and marketing team to inform of meetings, develop the social media campaign, and coordinate with other departments to ensure attendance.
· Conducts and participates in short and long-range planning for community building and other projects to meet future demand and long-term sustainability of outreach.
· Monitor general political, regulatory, and social trends to forecast emerging community issues.
· Make recommendations to city leadership on strategies to proactively engage public stakeholders.
· May be asked to perform other duties as assigned Qualifications · Requires bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) · Minimum of six (6) years of experience · A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire Other Information: Benefits The City offers an excellent benefit package that includes: · Texas Municipal Retirement System – TMRS is a required retirement plan for all full-time employees.
