_ _Learn more information here!_ *PURPOSE* The Harte Research Institute Development Officer is responsible for identifying, qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, stewarding, and retaining individual, foundation and corporate donors.
This individual will manage a personal portfolio of giving prospects and will work closely with the team at the Harte Research Institute to promote the acquisition of gifts.
This is a full-time position reporting to the Harte Research Institute Director of Development.
*DESCRIPTION* _*Functional Area 1: Administrative*_ _*Percent Effort: 100%*_ * Establish and maintain relationships with existing donors and donor prospects.
* Identify and qualify prospective individual, foundation, and corporate donors based on area of interest and alignment of values and mission.
* Build and manage a portfolio of mid- to major gift lead donors.
* Employ moves management to elevate individual donors and their giving.
* Maintain current summary, needs, budgets for labs/programs.
* Batch and submit a grant proposal plan for TAMU-CC Foundation Trustees to review and approve at each meeting (September, November, March, June).
* Craft and submit grant and gift proposals based on the overall needs and priorities of the Institute, labs and programs.
* Manage grant/gift cycle to ensure execution of fund agreement, proper fund processing and reporting.
* In concert with Development Assistant, maintain Raiser’s Edge records to reflect all activity and to set reminders for upcoming deadlines and next steps.
* In concert with the development team and HRI marcom, oversee an event-based fundraising program, including identification and recruitment of guests, event logistics, execution, and donor follow-up.
* Work with Advancement Services to properly receive gifts and follow established processes for delivery of gifts to Advancement Services.
*WHAT YOU WILL NEED* * Bachelor’s degree in applicable field.
* Two years of related experience in fundraising.
* Additional education may be used to substitute for the experience requirement: * Masters degree and no experience in fundraising.
* Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, analytical, and organizational skills.
* Ability to demonstrate initiative and manage details within the broader vision of the university and institute.
* Ability to maintain clear, accurate, and timely reports.
* Intermediate skills using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook, etc) * Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
* Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.
* Ability to travel on a regular basis to include some night and weekend hours.
*WHAT THEY WOULD LIKE TO SEE* * Masters degree in related field.
* Three to five (3-5) years of experience in alumni relations, development, individual major gift fundraising, grant-writing, or event management.
* Excellent grant writing and grant management skills.
* Ability to interface with all levels of an organization, both internally and externally.
* Proficient in Raiser’s Edge (RENXT), Outlook, Word and Zoom.
* Experience working in higher education or a research institute.
