Position: CTE Associate Teacher Department: Campus Supervisor: Principal Salary Range: Board approved pay scale Status: Non-Exempt Travel: As Needed or As required for industry visits or field trips.
Supervises: Students in CTE classrooms and labs.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Career Technical Education (CTE) Associate Teacher plays a crucial role in delivering specialized vocational education to students.
They assist the lead CTE teacher in planning and implementing career-oriented programs, providing students with hands-on learning experiences, and preparing them for success in various technical fields.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS (include but are not limited to): Qualifications: Proven ability to work in a polite and friendly manner and relate to a variety of constituencies, including but not limited to administrators, parents, teachers, students, other school staff, and school visitors.
Possesses strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Certified in the relevant Career Technical Education area is preferred but not required.
Participation in professional development related to CTE and industry-specific standards.
Ability to create a safe and effective learning environment within CTE labs and classrooms.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Adept at integrating hands-on learning and technology into instruction.
Professional Responsibilities: Implement the school’s mission and philosophy of career and technical education.
Assist in implementing policies and rules governing student life and conduct within CTE programs.
Take necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities in CTE classrooms and labs.
Maintain accurate records as required by law, school policy, and administrative regulations specific to CTE.
Strive to maintain and improve professional competence, especially as it relates to the specific CTE subject matter.
Attend staff meetings and collaborate with the CTE department on curriculum development and program enhancement.
Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with colleagues and industry partners.
Maintain open lines of communication with students concerning academic and career-related progress.
Perform other related tasks and assist with CTE program development as assigned by the CTE Lead Teacher or school administration.
Train students in the safe and effective use of tools, equipment, and technology relevant to their chosen CTE field.
Guide students through the process of confirming career goals, skill development, and industry readiness.
Promote and support student involvement in relevant industry internships and work-based learning opportunities.
ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES FOR CTE ASSOCIATE TEACHER: Collaborate with the CTE Lead Teacher to plan and deliver a comprehensive program of study that aligns with industry standards and meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
Assist in developing curriculum content that ensures students are well-prepared for careers within their chosen CTE pathway.
Prepare for CTE classes and demonstrate evidence of preparation upon request.
Encourage students to set and maintain high standards of behavior, safety, and achievement within CTE labs and classrooms.
Utilize a variety of instructional techniques, including hands-on learning and industry-specific technologies.
Assess and document student accomplishments regularly and provide feedback and progress reports.
Document and address any learning difficulties students may encounter, seeking assistance from specialists when necessary.
Support the integration of academic and technical skills within the CTE curriculum.
Foster students' career exploration and development, helping them identify and pursue opportunities in their chosen CTE field.
Supervise students during hands-on CTE assignments and projects, ensuring safety and compliance with industry standards.
Collaborate with the CTE Lead Teacher and industry professionals to stay current with trends and developments in the field.
