Job Description
The Library Specialist I-Circulation is scheduled Monday through Friday from 1pm - 10 pm.
Among their primary responsibilities they are expected to help faculty/staff/students at the Information desk.
This includes the checking in/out of materials and helping train/manage student workers.
Some basic reference work is required and may include helping users find material, basic instruction in the use of library databases, and answering a variety of general library questions.
They are also expected to provide excellent customer service and assist with special interdepartmental projects.
Candidates are expected to be ready and willing to learn and develop new skills.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provides general customer service support for library users.
Responds to basic questions and instructs library customers on accessing library online catalogs, research guides, physical collections, and other electronic reference databases.
Performs data entry and records updates in spreadsheets.
Assists in the more advanced, intermediate library functions in one or more operational units of the library.
May use some advanced reference and other resources to resolve problems.
Serves as the primary point of in-person contact for library customers.
Processes and maintains materials placed on reserve by faculty for student use.
Checks book drops for returned materials.
Sends out reminder and courtesy emails for checked out materials.
Manages room reservations.
Processes fines within the library online system
Shelves returned materials in their proper locations.
Responsible for department closing procedures.

Minimum Requirements
Education - High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience - One year of related library experience.
Knowledge of - Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
Knowledge of email and internet search engines.
Ability to - Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Basic keyboarding skills.
Physical Requirements - Ability to move medium weight boxes, books, heavy book truck or similar items.
Preferred Requirements
Some knowledge of libraries
Some supervisory experience
Experience with Printer supplies
Experience with participation in projects individually or in a group
Extensive experience with digital communication
Other Requirements
Ability to handle material containing dust or microscopic mold spores.
