00) Open Date 01/19/2024 Close Date 03/01/2024 Open Until Filled No Effective Date of Employment Position Summary Information Job Description Summary The purpose of the Chair – Department of Computer Science, Engineering, and Advanced Technology is to: · provide collaborative leadership and advocacy for the department · supply strategic planning to support the department’s role as the primary provider of essential integrating technologies for today’s evolving economy · liaise with community leaders and local employers · manage budget operations · advance student recruitment Teaching and Administrative Chair duties are divided approximately as 80% administrative and 20% teaching college courses.

Minimum Qualifications Master’s degree or higher in a discipline(s) taught in the department of Computer Science, Engineering and Advanced Technology.
Three (3) years of full-time teaching experience at an institution of higher education in a discipline(s) taught in the department of Computer Science, Engineering, and Advanced Technology (such as computer science, computer programming, engineering, GIS, information security, or networking).
Preferred Qualifications Experience working with national accrediting agencies, e.
g.
SACSCOC (Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges) or similar agencies.
Three (3) years of full-time teaching experience at a community college.
Experience using learning management systems and current technologies to support instruction.
Academic advising experience.
Experience with grants and external funding.
Experience with student recruiting and retention.
Experience planning and implementing budgets.
Record of success in teaching and service.
Experience in higher education as a department chair, program coordinator, or comparable leadership position (such as chairperson for committees, principle investigator, grant director).
Experience with internal/external programs reviews.

Job Duties Job Duty Administrative 1.
Maintain the integrity of the department’s instructional programs, including the department’s curriculum, semester class schedules, and assessment activities.
2.
Work with faculty to plan and implement identified changes to existing programs, strategic plans to develop new programs, and sunset/close faltering programs.
3.
Ensure continuous quality improvements in courses and programs and compliance with course master syllabi 4.
Manage the hiring of departmental faculty (tenure track, term instructors, and adjunct instructors) and support staff; and evaluate faculty credentials.
5.
Conduct annual evaluations for department faculty and staff.
6.
Manage the department’s budget, including identifying and procuring teaching technology.
7.
Oversee the department’s student recruitment, academic advising and counseling, and retention.
8.
Manage the departmental office and ensure the maintenance of department records.
9.
Facilitate industry advisory committees Job Duty Teaching 1.
Teach assigned courses at various times and locations in response to institutional needs.
2.
Plan the scope and sequence of course instruction based on an approved syllabus.
3.
Develop and use various teaching methods and materials to assist students with different backgrounds in meeting the course learning outcomes.
4.
Assess students’ performance to measure their progress toward achievement of identified course learning outcomes.
5.
Provide students with a written and accessible course syllabus that follows the Course Syllabus Guidelines.
6.
Hold scheduled virtual or physical office hours of at least one (1) hour daily and be available for and encourage conferences with students to ensure a clear understanding of the students’ work and the possibility of improvement.
7.
Provide academic advising and counseling for students to facilitate completing their educational goals.
8.
Serve on college committees.
